This piece incorporates the overlay technique, the defining characteristic of Hopi silverwork, developed in the 1940s and involving a design hand-cut from one sheet of silver soldered over a second sheet that is textured and oxidised to black.

Sourced directly from Native American artists on the reservations of New Mexico and Arizona, handmade using traditional techniques passed down through generations.
