We have been buying jewellery from the American Southwest and from Sydney makers for thirty years. The range covers Native American silverwork in sterling silver, turquoise, coral, jet, shell and other stones, both historic pieces and work from contemporary makers. The Sydney jewellers we stock, Sebastian Cilento, B.C. for South West Trader, Gon Martin and River & Sons, work across sterling silver, gold, turquoise, carnelian and ebony. Also in the range is a collection of William Spratling silver from Taxco, Mexico. Spratling was an American architect who settled there in the late 1920s and revived the town's silver industry drawing on pre-Columbian and indigenous Mexican motifs. He opened his first workshop in 1933 and employed over 500 silversmiths at his peak. His pieces are held in collections internationally and are rare in Australia. What connects all three is that none of it comes through a middleman. Native American, Mexican and Australian work, all bought directly from the makers and dealers we have built relationships with over thirty years.
