A defining technique of Zuni silversmithing, inlay work involves stones precisely cut and fitted into silver to create mosaic patterns, drawing on stone-cutting traditions that predate European contact.
This piece incorporates a star, a celestial motif carrying significance across Navajo, Zuni and Hopi culture as a symbol of guidance and the connection between the earthly and the cosmic.
Dating from the late nineteenth to mid twentieth century, made entirely by hand using traditional techniques developed across the Navajo, Zuni and Hopi nations.
Concho is 6.7cm x 4.8cm ...with an 8cm drop.
